The NWFP Governor Relief Cell has so far sent 70 truckload of relief goods for distribution among the survivors in earthquake-hit areas of Mansehra, Allai, Shangla, Battal and Battagram.

The relief items included tents, blankets, warm clothes, tarpaulins, kerosene oil, pullovers, woollies, utensils, edibles and a large number of tools for removal of debris.

The senior officials of the Governor FATA Secretariat Peshawar supervise the transportation and delivery of the relief goods to specified base camps in the affected areas.

Essential goods received from the tribal areas at the Relief Cell are properly sorted out and packed before it was dispatched to the destinations in quake-affected areas of Hazara and Kohistan besides Rawlakot in Azad Kashmir.

Three fully equipped mobile hospitals along with doctors and para medical staff and medicines worth Rs five million especially sent by the NWFP Governor are already operating in the affected areas conducting operations and providing treatment to the injured and ailing men, women and children. So far hundreds of patients with minor and major injuries have been treated at these hospitals.

The Relief Cell is working round the clock and response from tribal people and social organisations is very encouraging. Some Pakistani expatriates, philanthropists and foreign organisations have pledged donations to the Governor Relief Cell, as they wanted to contribute to the relief and rehabilitation of the people hit by earthquake.

NWFP Governor Khalil-ur-Rehman has contributed a donation of Rs 10.2 million to the President's Relief Fund for Earthquake Victims and presented a cheque of the same amount to President General Pervez Musharraf.

The Relief Cell has also sponsored a Kabul-based team of Afghan doctors attached to an NGO, Ibne Sina and engaged is currently providing in medical services to the injured and sick people at its small hospital set up at Daddar town in Mansehra.
